Hollenderkvartalet – Urban housing, Oslo
The project is an investigation into a way of living “inside-out” in a dense city. The different thresholds between the private dwelling and the public spaces are studied, with the intention of creating comfortable and pleasant homes in a busy urban environment.
The site is located in central Oslo and it consists of fragmented building structures with large open areas. The new proposal aims to create a new form of collective life and urban atmosphere between the new and the existing buildings.
The project is developed from two different viewpoints. An urban proposition is made from the point of the city, and another one from the scale of an urban home, where atmosphere, the feeling of spaces and the connection between inside and outside gives the final architectural value to the project.
