Building a Bridge Between Kindergarten and School
The aim of this project is to make the transition from kindergarten to school easier for children. By introducing them to letters through play, the children can become friends with the letters, and learning to read and write in school might be less scary and confusing. I hope to be able to reach out to those children who may struggle with learning in regular settings.
My proposition is a toy octopus that can read a set of physical letters and say their name and sound and different rhymes out loud, because learning through multiple senses like hearing and touch can strengthen the memory of the shapes. I also introduce a booklet that suggests activities that adults can do together with the children.
I have focused on making a fun toy because motivation through fun is the best way for children to learn.
