Stavanger Energy School
In Stavanger, a region crucially dependent on oil, the question of what to do after fossil fuels is a big one.
Even though the adventure isn’t over yet, concern about the future has started to flare up from time to time.
In terms of energy, educational focus in the region is predominantly oil based, with much less attention given to other more sustainable kinds.
This project suggests rehabilitating Stavanger Offshore Technical School, one of the major schools that educate oil-workers in the region. And introduces a shift in educational curriculum.
The project upgrades the 1954 concrete building to passive-house standards. Supplemented with solar power to supply the buildings electrical energy needs.
Reorganization of the room layout aim to offer more flexibility to better fit 21st century educational models.
